What Do You Want To Think About?
What is the difference between thinking about what you do want to do and what you don't want to do?
When you think about what you don't want to do:
* You visualize yourself making a mistake
* You worry about what you can't control

* Your muscles become tight
* Your breathing is shallow

* You take your head out of the game
When you think about what you do want to do:
* You visualize yourself making the play
* You feel more confident and composed
* You focus on what you do control
* You are patient with yourself
* You focus on what you do control
* You are patient with yourself
* Your muscles are more relaxed
* Your breathing is deeper
* You want to be part of the action
* You are more proactive
* You are looking for the opportunities
* You move faster
* You don't worry about how you look to others
* You keep your head in the game
So, what do you want to think about?
Excellent post! I find this to be true for my boys. We talk about this all the time. We can control our thoughts and by doing that we can control our outcome. It is a hard thing to do, but with practice (like everything else) it can be mastered.
ReplyDelete:Just do it"!! - Not an accident that Nike used this under the swoosh. Thinking about play is for practice. In a game, you prepare for the next play if playing a game where there is time in between plays. In soccer and lacrosse, field hockey, basketball, etc. - see the field or court and be ahead of play by anticipating openings after running a play or playing defense. Just do it!!
